Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures (I Corinthians 15:3b-4).
The Bible plainly teaches the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ on the third day following His death by crucifixion, in accordance with Old Testament prophecy and our Lord’s own statements before His death. That some men question this truth in no way decreases its value or lessens its importance. It merely reveals the unbelief in their hearts.
The bodily resurrection of Christ is fully documented. He was seen by many people under varying circumstances — by Mary at the tomb (John 20:11-18), by the disciples in the upper room (John 20:19-20), and by over 500 brethren at once (I Corinthians 15:6). He encouraged Thomas to overcome his doubts by feeling the wounds in His hands and side (John 20:24-29). He partook of food in the presence of His disciples (Luke 24:35-43) and later ascended to heaven as they stood by (Acts 1:9-11). The resurrection of Christ further changed these men into bold witnesses and even martyrs.
Yes, the fact of the resurrection is well established. But what does that mean to you and me some 2,000 years later? Space permits mention of only two very brief things. First, the bodily resurrection of Christ assures the bodily resurrection of all who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior (I Corinthians 15:1-23). Second, it assures the judgment and eternal punishment of all who reject Him (Acts 17:31). Christ must either be your Savior or your Judge! Which will it be? The choice is up to you! If you have never been saved, receive Him as your Savior today. “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12). Resurrection will then become to you a glorious fact rather than a troubling doubt.
