Salvation begins with a tug at your heart. Have you felt it? If so, then let go of your pride and yield to it. God is drawing you to Him (John 6:44). Perhaps that’s what brought you to this Webpage.
Why do we need to be saved? Before we are born again, we are spiritually dead (Ephesians 2:1). No amount of good works or anything we do can save us (Isaiah 64:6). It is impossible to find peace with God on our own.
Although physically alive, inside we are controlled by sin. This means our sin keeps us outside the grace of God, away from His presence, unworthy and defiled. To be found righteous before God, we must be born spiritually through His Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:3), for Jesus is the only way to Heaven (John 14:6).
We cannot have a second physical birth, nor can we give ourselves a spiritual birth. Only God can give it, but we must ask for it through faith in Jesus Christ. Only then can we be free from the consequences of our sin because of our new life in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The Bible says today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Don’t put it off. You have no promise of tomorrow or even the next moment. There is nothing in yourself to lose, but you have everything in Christ to gain (Philippians 3:8).
- Everyone needs to be saved because every one of us has sinned. Romans 3:10-12, and 23
In the Bible, God says that none of us is righteous…not even one. None of us is wise; we don’t seek God. In fact, we have all turned to go our own way and we have sinned against God. We have fallen far short of God’s standards, and we are destined for Hell for all eternity. - The price or consequence of sin is death. Romans 6:23
God says that we must pay for our sin, which means spending eternity in Hell, but He has made a way for us to escape eternal death and Hell by His gift through Jesus Christ. - Jesus died for our sins and paid the price for our death. Romans 5:8
The Bible says that, because of God’s great love for us, He sent Jesus to die for us while we were still sinners. In other words, we don’t have to, first, get ourselves cleaned up and be “good.” God willingly made that great sacrifice on our behalf. All we have to do is receive the gift. So how do we receive it? - We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9-10, and 13
The Bible says that, if you admit that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. This is the only way to get into a right relationship with God. He says that everyone who calls upon the name of Jesus will be saved. That doesn’t mean just calling out His name; it’s much more than simply knowing it in your head. It means truly believing in your heart that He is the one and only Savior. - The new birth brings us into a right relationship with God. This is called being “born again.” Romans 5:1, 8:1, 38-39
A wonderful change takes place when we are born again. Regardless of our past, we are now at peace with God, because we have been justified through the Lord Jesus Christ. We are brought into God’s grace as forgiven sinners, no longer condemned to Hell, and nothing can ever separate us from the love of God.
Would you like to receive God’s gift of salvation today? It’s very simple; here’s how:
- Admit you are a sinner and that as a sinner you deserve death.
- Believe Jesus Christ died to save you and paid the price for your sin.
- Repent of your sin and turn to a new life in Jesus Christ.
- Receive the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
There is no official prayer of salvation, but you may bow your head and pray something like this:
“Dear God, I admit I am a sinner. I’m sorry for my sin and the life I have lived. I need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for me, and I repent of my sin. I don’t want that old life anymore, and I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Please forgive me and change me so that I can live for You the rest of my life. Thank You for saving me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
If you prayed a prayer like that and meant it with all your heart, congratulations! You have made the most important decision of your life. Based on God’s Word, we believe you are saved and born again.
Now, you should get into a Bible-based church and read and study God’s Word. This is how you get to know God (1 Peter 2:2; 2 Peter 3:18). Once you have found a good church, you should follow Christ in baptism through immersion in water. This is your first public act of obedience to the Lord, symbolizing your salvation and trust in Jesus as your Savior.
