What Is Your Heart’s Desire?
"I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will" (Acts 13:22b).David was certainly not perfect. He committed sins that most of us could not imagine, much less commit. Yet, in spite of his imperfections and sin, David sought to be righteous and his heart's desire was to do the will of God. In fact, in Paul's sermon recorded in Acts 13, he said concerning David, "For David, after he had served his own generation … Continue Reading ››
Is Tithing Valid for Christians Today?
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it" (Malachi 3:10).I read an article recently where the author boldly declared that tithing is not for today, even stating that churches which teach tithing are guilty of taking money from the disadvantaged! Others … Continue Reading ››
Who Needs the Church?
Over the past several decades there has been an increase in professing Christians who are disillusioned with the church. Many can be heard to say something like this: "I love the Lord, but I don't like the church." If you think about it, that's sort of like saying, "Jesus, I love You, but I can't stand Your wife." The church is called "the Bride of Christ." It's kind of like saying, "I love to swim, but I don't like the water."
This attitude of "church bashing" … Continue Reading ››
Jesus Defeated…
The word spread quickly - Napoleon had escaped! On February 26, 1815, Napoleon escaped from exile on Elba. He landed on the French mainland on March 1.
Napoleon announced that he had come to save the French from degradation and that his eagles would soon alight the spires of Notre Dame. French King Louis XVIII sent unit after unit to stop him, and on meeting that familiar gray-coated figure at the head of his daring few, they threw down their arms and welcomed him back in … Continue Reading ››
“I Need a Little Help with My Quiet Time!”
"Be still, and know that I am God..." (Psalm 46:10a).Since several people have made this statement to me recently, I thought I would change things up a bit and instead of writing a devotional this time, just share with you my thoughts on how to have an effective devotional life in God's Word. This involves a simple four-step process. I truly hope this helps some of you. Others of you who are already doing this, just keep it up! First, find a place where you … Continue Reading ››
Lessons from a Greyhound
The greyhound is the second fastest land mammal on earth, reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour in three strides, or less than 2 seconds! What is it that makes the greyhound run so well? One key to the speed of a greyhound can be found in the way it runs. The greyhound uses the double suspension gallop where all four feet are off the ground and the greyhound is literally flying through the air. During this time of suspended animation the greyhound … Continue Reading ››
Why Believe in the Pretribulation Rapture
Despite the fact that some are revising their views on when the Rapture of the Church takes place, I am still convinced of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture described in I Thessalonians 4:13-18. Yes, it is true that the word "rapture" doesn't occur in Scripture, but neither does the word "Bible;" yet we still call the Word of God the Bible. The word "rapture" comes from a Latin word meaning "to catch up or carry away" or "to seize suddenly." Here is why I believe this event … Continue Reading ››
The Open Doors of 2018
There are various doors that God opens up to us. Let's be sure we go through these open doors in 2018. What are they?
First, there is the door of faith - "...all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles" (Acts 14:27). We enter the door of faith that God opens for us when we repent of our sins and trust the Lord Jesus Christ to save us by His grace. Have you entered the … Continue Reading ››
The Message of the Christmas Angels
"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in … Continue Reading ››
