Our Heavenly Home

“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:2-3).

Heaven is a place just as real as this place. Jesus called it a place and I get much comfort in taking Him at His word. He has prepared that place with His children in mind. It is the eternal home of the redeemed!

Heaven is a home. There are no perfect homes in this world. Family members move away or death comes in to rob us of a loved one. But our eternal home is complete and permanent. When we get there, nothing can ever separate us or take away our happiness.

Heaven is a place of reunion. Isn’t it wonderful to know that we shall see and recognize our loved ones again? Though different, our bodies will be identifiable. Mary, though confused at first, recognized the resurrected Jesus (John 20:14-16). Because we will be like Him, we will be recognized in our glorified bodies, and we will recognize others. We will be reunited forever in a glorious fellowship.

There will be no sickness there. No cancer, heart disease, or illness can ever enter that celestial city. There will be no sorrow, no pain, no death, no crying, no separation, and no sin in heaven (Revelation 21:4). There will be no lack of anything good. The One Who made heaven and earth will supply every need. We will be joint-heirs with Jesus Christ of all the good things God has for us in heaven.

We will have perfect health, perfect happiness, perfect contentment, perfect fellowship, and perfect love. Best of all, we will have Jesus! “That where I am, there ye may be also.” We have often felt His presence down here. We have heard His voice in the deep recesses of our hearts. But one day our faith will be turned to sight and we shall see Him as He is.

If it were not for Jesus there would be no heaven. The golden streets and the pearly gates and the mansions and the robes and the crowns would mean absolutely nothing if Jesus were not there. But, thank God, we shall see Him and we shall know Him and we shall fall at His feet and thank Him for saving us and bringing us safely home!

“Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace;
In the mansions bright and blessed He’ll prepare for us a place.

When we all get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory!”

One of our dearest friends and a beloved church member who was a child of God went to be with Jesus this week. We shall see her and meet her again one day at Jesus’ feet, where the sunshine of His love forever shines and where we shall never grow old.

I’m so glad that heaven is my home because of what my Savior did for me when He died for my sins and rose again! I hope and pray that heaven is your home, too, and it can be if you belong to Jesus.
