Our Mission Is Still the Great Commission

"And he [Jesus] said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).
What a joy it was to witness thirteen new missionary families and individuals being approved at the Baptist Bible Fellowship International meeting held at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, this week. Hearing the testimonies of those who have surrendered to go and seeing the videos of the need around the world was a challenge … Continue Reading ››

Just Doing My Duty!

"And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come at once and sit down to eat'? But will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink'? Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded of him? I think not. So likewise you, when … Continue Reading ››

You Matter to God

"Then drew near unto him [Jesus] all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them" (Luke 15:1-2).
Years ago, there was a bag lady in New York City who attended a preaching service at a Manhattan Rescue Mission. Afterwards in the line to receive soup, she mentioned to the preacher that she was now ready to give her life to Jesus Christ. She said, "I never knew until now that … Continue Reading ››

The Good News of the Resurrection!

Many people at this time of year are excited about Easter eggs, Easter baskets, bunny rabbits, and new clothes, but Christians, remember that it's the Savior's resurrection that we celebrate. Praise God, He is alive! Paul tells us in I Corinthians 15:1-2 that this is the Gospel that he preached and the Gospel by which we are saved...
"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that he was buried, … Continue Reading ››

Perspectives of the First Palm Sunday

If we could travel back nearly two-thousand years to Jesus’ triumphant entry in Jerusalem, we would most certainly have had a much different perspective of this day than we do now. Luke 19:35-38 describes the scene:  multitudes of disciples rejoicing that their King was making His way into Jerusalem, just as Zechariah had foretold. They were going before Jesus with tears of joy, laying out their coats before Him, lifting up their voices in praise to God, celebrating their King. This was the event they … Continue Reading ››

The Existence of the Nation of Israel

"Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever" (Jeremiah 31:35-36).
It is not an exaggeration to say that the eyes of the world are … Continue Reading ››

Well… and Not Well!

"Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the hearts of the sons of men are fully set in them to do evil. Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God" … Continue Reading ››

Coping with Criticism

One day a farmer's old donkey fell into an abandoned well. The poor animal cried and heehawed pitifully for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided that since the animal was old and crippled and the well needed to be covered up, the best thing to do would just be to bury the old donkey in the well. It just wasn't worth it to try to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors … Continue Reading ››

Presidents’ Day, Presidents, and the Bible

Presidents' Day is an American holiday celebrated each year on the third Monday in February. Originally established in 1885 in recognition of our nation's first president, George Washington, it is still officially called "Washington's Birthday" by the Federal Government. With the passing of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act and the move away from February 22, President George Washington's actual day of birth, Presidents' Day was seen by many as a way to honor both Washington and Abraham Lincoln, who was … Continue Reading ››

A Dedication Commitment to God

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service" (Romans 12:1).
Dear God, I give You my MIND to think your thoughts after You. I will cast down imaginations and every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (II Corinthians 10:5). I will think upon those … Continue Reading ››
