Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name (Psalm 100:4).
Thanksgiving is such a wonderful season of the year! It’s a time when we pause in our hectic lives to give thanks to God for His manifold blessings on us. As a believer, however, our giving of thanks should not be confined to the fourth Thursday of November. We should give thanks to the Lord each and every day we live!
As I write this, my heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for a great many things. For the sake of time and space, please allow me to mention but a few…
- First, I am thankful to the Lord for His grace in saving me. As the song writer expressed it, “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me!” I praise and thank my God for making a way of salvation.
- I am thankful for the family God has given me…for my wife, Kathy, to whom I will be married for 42 years in January and who has been my help meet all of these years… for our four children, their spouses, and our eight grandchildren. What a blessing they have been in my life!
- I am thankful for the opportunity to serve God and for Him allowing me to be in full time ministry for 37 years as of the beginning of this month.
- I am thankful for my church family here at Grace. By the grace of God, our church has caught the vision for missions, and we have just concluded the greatest mission year in terms of giving in our church’s history. It is a wonderful privilege to labor beside people who love the Lord and share a burden to reach the world for Christ. To God be the glory!
As you pause to count your blessings and thank the Lord for Who He is and what He has done for you, please pray also for those to whom we minister in His name. Thank God that He has allowed us to be His hands and feet. What a privilege and blessing it is to work together as the Body of Christ. Yes, indeed, we have much to be thankful for, both now, and always!
