“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me” (Psalm 50:15).
The day of trouble comes to each and every life. What we do when trouble comes is a test of our character. Our gracious Lord invites every person to bring their burdens to Him. “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee” (Psalm 55:22). Notice how the words of this verse are centered on the Lord and not on our trouble.
1. THE PLEA OF THE LORD – “Call upon me in the day of trouble.”
The Lord invites every soul to call upon Him in the day of trouble. The Lord is at hand. He is near. He is able to come to the aid of every child of God. He is able and willing to manifest all power needed for the best interest of every soul. Call upon the Lord and cry out to Him. God hears and answers prayer.
2. THE PROMISE OF THE LORD – “I will deliver thee.”
The greatest blessing to the soul of man is the presence and the power of God. He will deliver the soul from trouble or use the burden as a blessing to that soul as soon as all is cast upon Him. Believe in the Lord. Trust in the Lord. Let the Lord help you in time of need. Prove His power. Accept His promise.
3. THE PRAISE OF THE LORD – “Thou shalt glorify me.”
“Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me” (Psalm 50:23a). We should praise the Lord for the gift of life and for sustaining life. Praise Him for every blessing, because every good and perfect gift is from the Lord and comes down from above. Praise His holy name!
Call upon the Lord in the day of trouble!
