Bible Text: Mark 1:1-8 | Preacher: Dr. George A. Mulford | Series: Mark : The Gospel of the Servant Mark is credited with writing the first of the four Gospels, which is the shortest of the four. The book of Mark has fewer of the teachings of Jesus but more miracles per chapter than the other three. It is primarily a Gospel of action, because Mark was writing for the Romans and they loved action. We see that by virtue of two-thirds or more of the verses beginning with the word "and." It is full of action; it just keeps moving. Mark presents Jesus as the Conqueror over disease, death, demons, and the elements of nature but primarily as the suffering Servant. Jesus' lineage is not mentioned because a servant's pedigree is not important. Today, we begin this new series on the Gospel of the Servant.
