It’s Time to Wake Up

September 11, 2016
Bible Text: Romans 13:11-14 | Preacher: Dr. George A. Mulford | Series: Romans: The Gospel of God's Grace Today, our topic is not about physical sleep; it's about spiritual slumber, hearing God's alarm that it's time to wake up and know what time it is. The apostle Paul has been talking about our relationships... to God, to ourselves, to each other, to our enemies, to government, and then the overarching principle, to everybody. But in our passage today, there's an urgency or a sense of haste to do all of this. Paul is telling us that the responsibilities mentioned here are not to be put off for another day but are to be carried out faithfully as we wait for our Lord.
Bible Text: Joshua 1:1-9 | Preacher: Michael Portwood In our text tonight, we see that God gave Joshua a heavy task, and with God's encouragement and His presence, Joshua had strength and courage to do the task set before him. This promise of God was very powerful for Joshua, but it is very meaningful for us today. Has God ever asked you to do something you were hesitant to do or were obstinate in doing? We've all been there at one time or another. But as we will see from Scripture, God's presence was enough for Joshua, and it's enough for us as well.
