We see that Jesus had left Galilee and now has gone into Gentile territory to a city called Tyre. Tyre and nearby Sidon were inhabited by people who came from the Canaanites. They were idolators and pagans; there was even a curse upon them. One of the women of Canaan was pleading with Jesus to heal her daughter and cast out the demons. She had faith that Jesus could help her even though she was a Gentile. Yes, Jesus has a solution to whatever problem we are facing. The true value of faith lies in the object of our faith. If our faith is placed in ourselves, then it's wrongly placed. As we examine this passage today, we come to realize Jesus' purpose there. Let's look at what happened.
