The Carnality of Abraham
In tonight's passage we see evidence of the fact that Abram, though he was a man of faith and though he was called the friend of God, was still made of the same stuff we all are. Even the most godly people are still human and imperfect and subject to faltering. Abram's decision to go down to Egypt to escape the famine in Canaan was apparently a choice made without consulting God. He obviously didn't think through to the end result of that. The truth is simply this: Godly people can do ungodly things.
